Celtics Blow Out Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

Mavs Return Porzingis, but Celtics Depth Proves Too Much

Boston Celtics defeat Dallas Mavericks 107-89 Kristaps Porzingis back from a calf.

The Boston Celtics blew out the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 to take Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. Jayson Tatum made five 3-pointers and scored 32 points, leading the Celtics' balanced attack. Kristaps Porzingis returned from a calf injury for the Mavericks, but he was limited to just 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

The Celtics made 11 of their 16 perimeter jumpers in the first half while Dallas shot just 7-27 (25.9%). The Mavericks were also outrebounded 50-34 and committed 14 turnovers.

The Celtics' depth proved to be too much for the Mavericks, as all five starters scored in double figures. Jaylen Brown added 19 points, Marcus Smart had 18, Al Horford had 16, and Robert Williams III had 10.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 20 points, but he was just 6-of-16 from the field. Spencer Dinwiddie added 14 points, and Porzingis had 11.

The Celtics took a 1-0 lead in the series, which continues with Game 2 on Sunday in Dallas.
